Lang Tengah Island Resorts & Paradise

Summer Bay Resort

Malaysia is blessed with its fair share of natural beauty, some more well known than others.

Mention Pulau Langkawi, Redang or even Perhentian and these names are instantly recognized by most Malaysians and even international tourists.

But sandwiched between Pulau Redang and Perhentian is a lesser known island known as Lang Tengah, an island which shares the same pristine blue waters as its more famous neighbours.

There are a number of resorts in Lang Tengah including Summer Bay Resort, Sari Pacific Resort & Spa and D’Coconut Lagoon Resort.

Activities on Lang Tengah Island include scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayak, jungle trekking, turtle hatchery and island hopping.

For scuba diving enthusiasts, there are 12 dive sites ranging from 7 to 26 metres in deep. If that’s not enough, another 30 dive sites await you at Redang, Perhentian and Bidong which are around 30 to 45 minutes by boat. Encounters with turtles, leopard sharks and barracudas is commonplace for divers.

The east coast of Malaysia is affected by the monsoon season between November to February, avoid visiting during that period. March to October would be a far better time to visit Lang Tengah and consider non-school holiday period if you wish to avoid the family crowd.

Summer Bay Resort is scheduled to re-open on 1 March 2021 post-MCO. This is subject to changes in the government’s MCO rules which may be in place from time to time.

If you are travelling from KL, Merang Jetty is around 5 hours drive and parking is available at RM10 per night (at the time of writing). If using public transport, there are buses and trains to Kuala Terengganu but be prepared to travel for 8 hours with stopovers. Domestic flights to Kuala Terengganu are limited during MCO period. If you manage to get one, the island resorts provide a transfer service from Kuala Terengganu airport to Merang Jetty which is around 45 minutes drive.

When you reach Merang Jetty, you can catch a boat or ferry to bring you Lang Tengah Island. It takes around 40 to 45 minutes and ferries operate three times each day.
